Carvings
Carving is the type of work in which I fill the majority of the time with enjoyment.
I started to carve wood when I was a young boy and still today I can feel the same emotions when I am creating one of my works, whether it is a sculpture, a piece of furniture, a frame or any other object.
The sensation of having your own thoughts taking shape as you remove the excessive materials is indescribable.
I have tried to model clay or plasticine, but I don’t get the same satisfaction: there’s no challenge in removing and putting back the material without the risk of making mistakes.
Being a sculptor means having the courage to confront a rock, marble or wood with my own hands.
There is no room for mistakes, if an error occurs the game is over.
Before working on a piece of material, it is necessary to become in symbiosis with it and to carefully study all of its veins in order to apply to it the mental image coming from our minds.
On the other hand, once you have a rough idea you can start working with clay without worrying about mistakes, as they are all correctable.
This is the reason why I am so proud of my works, from the simplest to the most complex ones.
